Description
Yamaha APX-6A Electric / Acoustic 6 String Guitar. I am the original owner, purchased this in the mid 90’s. It’s made in Taiwan, and features a bound Rosewood fretboard, Spruce top with Nato back, sides and neck. It has onboard electronics and gold tuners. The electronics require a 9v battery (included) housed on the side of the body. They feature a 3 band EQ with AMF (adjustable midrange frequency), master volume and mute switch. Fully tested and sounding great. The guitar is in very good condition - it plays and feels excellent! The finish is high gloss. As is typical for this model, the stain has become mottled from the inside, but the finish itself is still very durable. I took photos in direct sun to accentuate this, so you know exactly what you’re getting (no fuzzy misleading photos here). That said, indoors in normal light, or on a darkened stage, the effect is far less prominent and it looks quite nice. The top is no longer perfectly flat - it has bowed slightly around the bridge from being under tension for so many years. I tried to document this in the photos but it’s difficult to see unless you’re in person. That said, the action is still quite good - around 3mm @ the 12th fret - and it plays great, no fret buzz, and intonation is very good. Nothing a decent luthier couldn’t set up to fit your preferences (I never got it set up, so it’s still 100% original). The output jack spins in place, but it’s doesn’t jiggle in and out at all, and is perfectly solid for holding your cable and guitar strap. The tuners are very smooth. This is definitely a player’s guitar, and as such, has lots of little dings and scratches, mostly very superficial. I did my best to document the deepest ones, but please be aware that I’m SELLING THIS AS-IS. If you want more photos of any area before you purchase, just ask! The strings are new Ernie Ball Earthwound 11’s and it plays nicely. The guitar will ship in the original hardshell case I purchased to fit it at the time. The case is structurally sound for shipping or general protection, but all three latches are broken and will not keep the case closed. I never bothered to replace them - I used an oversized rubber band to secure the case. Please be aware that the case will need the latches replaced or the workaround I suggested. Everything will be well packaged and boxed for shipping. Buy with confidence!
